The Honour the Maunga (“HtM”) community draws together a diverse range of people with a singular purpose – to honour Ōwairaka/Mt Albert and all the lifeforms she supports by preventing 345 trees from being felled.

This community’s strength depends upon the ongoing active support, co-operation and enthusiasm of the many volunteers who provide time and resources to the cause. We wish to protect this positive spirit by ensuring all HtM community members agree to act in accordance with our values and also this Code of Conduct.

HtM members are at all times expected to be considerate and respectful towards each other, members of the wider community, members of the public who visit the maunga (even those who disagree with us) and towards the maunga environment. The following behaviours are never acceptable:

  • Violent, intimidating, demeaning, discriminatory, racist or disrespectful language or behaviour (written / in person / online).

  • Vandalism or unlawful behaviour (with the exception of being prepared to be arrested should Police move in to evict us from the maunga).

  • Speaking to the news media on HtM’s behalf unless the official media spokesperson (currently Anna Radford) has given you written permission.

  • Representing HtM to any external organisation unless a Co-ordinating Committee member has given you written permission.

  • Communicating about internal HTM matters and/or personnel issue to external parties, unless an HTM Co-ordinating Committee members has given you written permission.

  • Revealing or threatening to reveal other people’s personally identifying information unless that person has given you written permission.

  • Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or disability.

  • Photography or video/audio recording without the permission of person/s being recorded.

  • Unwelcome sexual attention. This includes sexualized comments or jokes; inappropriate touching, groping, and uninvited sexual advances.
